Semi-Arid Resilience Network – **Who We Are** The Semi-Arid Resilience Network (SARN) began as a community-based organization in 2017, evolving into a registered NGO in 2019. In 2024, through collaboration with community members, partners, and development stakeholders, the organization rebranded to better reflect its mission of fostering resilience in semi-arid regions. SARN operates across Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Isiolo, and Tana River counties, linking its community-driven programs to county development plans and engagement forums. As a pillar head in peacebuilding and social action within Garissa\\'s CSO network, SARN is committed to empowering communities through impactful, sustainable initiatives.

ABDIWELI MOHAMED

Abdiweli Mohamed serves as the Executive Director of the Semi-Arid Resilience Network and an ex-officio member of its Board of Directors. In this role, he oversees the organization’s operations and key management decisions.

He holds an MSc in Gender and Development Studies from Kenyatta University and is also a graduate degree in Public Health from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). Additionally, he is a certified Professional Mediator, accredited by Devlui Mediation and ADR-Hub.

As the founder of the organization, Abdiweli brings over seven years of experience in developing and coordinating initiatives focused on Youth, Peace and Security, Policy and Governance, Livelihoods, Climate Action Resilience, Research, and Knowledge Management. His leadership is marked by a deep commitment to fostering impactful partnerships and driving resource mobilization to support the organization's mission and vision.
